WHO IS COACH FLYNN

Coach Dan Flynn is dedicated to the sport of running.  He has been working with endurance athletes for the past ten years.  Currently, Coach Flynn is the head coach of the Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track program at Lesley University.  He is the Director of the Stowe Running Camp and owner of the Flynn Running Company.    He has coached charity programs such as the Pine Street Inn, the American Cancer Society, and Team in Training.

He has been certified as an endurance running coach by Team in Training, Road Runner Club of America, and the USATF.

In 2009 and 2010, Coach Flynn was named the New England Collegiate Conference "Coach of the Year". This would be the first conference championship for a men’s sport in Lesley University history. In four years, Flynn has coached 5 NECC Runners of the Year, 3 NECC Rookies of the Year, and 38 NECC All-Conference runners.

Coach Flynn's coaching career began in 2001 when he founded a middle school girl's track team in Camden, New Jersey during a year of service with AmeriCorps. He went on to coach track and field at his Alma mater Thayer Academy which went on to win their fifth ISL Championship. Throughout his time at Thayer, Dan coached many individual ISL and NEPSTA champions in the 1500m, 3000m, and 800m.

He went on to receive his Master's Degree from Boston College in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in college student development.

Coach Dan Flynn started running in high school at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Massachusetts.  There, he broke the school record in the 800m and was on the Independent School League (ISL) and New England Champion 4x400m relay in 1996.  Flynn was recruited to run at Merrimack College where he ran four years of cross country and track.  He was named captain in his junior year.

He ran the 2006 and 2011 Boston Marathon and 2011 Disney Half Marathon as well as many 5k and 10k races throughout New England.

In his free time, Coach Flynn enjoys spending time with his wife, Sara, son, Luke, and dog, Murphy.
